SPECTACLE SINCE THE WORD GO AT THE 33RD ANDREA MARGUTTI TROPHY

kz2_start_fmp_0534Qualifying practice and the initial heats have been run at the South Garda Karting of Lonato ahead of the 33rd Andrea Margutti Trophy. Categories KZ2, MINI Gr.3, OKJ, X30 Junior and X30 Senior on track.

Lonato del Garda, April 1st, 2022. Nice weather arrived at the South Garda Karting to welcome the 33rd edition of the Andrea Margutti Trophy as the rain that affected the eve of the event seemed to drift off. Edition 33 of the Andrea Margutti Trophy started therefore in the best possible way and the event organized by Parma Motorsport set a new participation record with nearly 300 entered drivers from 43 different nations in the 5 categories KZ2, MINI Gr.3, OKJ, X30 Junior and X30 Senior.

Qualifying practice.

Qualifying practice has been exciting on April 1st on a circuit that was dry and therefore in the best possible conditions to allow all the drivers to show their best.

KZ2. In the two sessions of KZ2 William Lanzeni (Lanzeni/EKS-TM Racing-Vega) went quickest in Session-1 with a best time of 47.048s, while a surprising Massimo Dante (SGrace/Best Kart-TM Racing) did the same in Session-2 in 46.645s. He was 0.009s quicker that the European Champion Riccardo Longhi (BirelART Racing/BirelART-TM Racing).

MINI Gr.3. Three sessions were needed for MINI Gr.3. The Brazilian Augustus Toniolo (Team Driver/KR-Iame-Vega) displayed a good shape in Lonato’s Session-1 as he posted the quickest time in 59.876s, Fabio Reale (LA Motorsport/Intrepid-TM Racing) posted a great 58.625s in Session-2, but the Dutch Dean Hoogendoorn (Alonso Kart by Kidix/Alonso Kart-Iame) went even quicker in Session-3.

OKJ. OK-Junior’s only session was headed by Lithuania’s Markas Silkunas (Gamoto/Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) in 49.478s.

X30 Junior. The fastest of X30 Junior was Antonio Apicella (Team Driver/KR-Iame-Komet) in 50.710s.

X30 Senior. Two sessions were run in X30 Senior. Manuel Scognamiglio (Gamoto/Tony Kart-Iame-Komet) has been particularly competitive in the first session posting a best time of 49.310s, while the best of Session-2 was Cristian Comanducci (PRK/Tony Kart-Iame) in 49.004s.

The first qualifying heats have also taken place on day one and will continue on Saturday, April 2nd. Several nice duels have been fought and some new protagonists came to the fore. Two heats were run in KZ2, 6 in MINI Gr.3.

KZ2’s heat A-B was won by William Lanzeni (Lanzeni/EKS-TM Racing-Vega), while the C-D heat went Giuseppe Palomba’s ways (LG Motorsport/BirelART-TM Racing).

Iacopo Martinese (BabyRace/Parolin-Iame-Vega) won two heats of MINI Gr.3 Augustus Toniolo (Team Driver/KR-Iame), Roman Kamyab (BabyRace/Parolin-Iame), Bogdan Cosma-Cristofor (Gulstar/KR-Iame) and Oliver Rasmussen (CRG Racing Team/CRG-TM Racing) won one heat each instead.

The program will continue on Saturday, April 2nd, with additional heats. Second chance races, Prefinals and Finals with Live Streaming coverage will follow on Sunday, April 3rd.
