THE FINAL SPRINT TO THE 33RD ANDREA MARGUTTI TROPHY

Lonato del Garda, April 2nd, 2022. The second qualifying day at the South Garda Karting circuit of Lonato has been quite intense and hard-fought as all the drivers challenged each other to define the finalists and the main protagonists of the 33rd edition of the Andrea Margutti Trophy. This international event is organized by Parma Motorsport in the memory of the young karting promise Andrea Margutti.

The 33rd edition of the Andrea Margutti Trophy is ready to run its final stages that will enjoy Live Streaming coverage on Sunday, April 3rd on www.trofeomargutti.com. The event scored its absolute participation record of around 300 entered drivers from 43 different nations that will compete among the fields of the most important teams and manufacturers. Following the initial 8 heats run on Friday, 20 more qualifying heats have been run on Saturday to define the main candidates to the final win.

Zanchi and Palomba to the fore in KZ2.

In KZ2 Matteo Zanchi (Zanchi Motorsport/BirelART-TM Racing-Vega) came to the fore taking P1 after the heats. Giuseppe Palomba (LG Motorsport/BirelART-TM Racing) was also among the front runners, but could not confirm his third win due to a penalty in the closing heat. William Lanzeni (Lanzeni/EKS-TM Racing-Vega) also completed an overall good performance, despite not finishing one heat. The poleman Massimo Dante (SGrace/Best Kart-TM Racing) was among the quickest too.

  1. Matteo Zanchi; 2. Giuseppe Palomba; 3. Arthur Carbonnel; 4. Alessio Piccini; 5. Massimo Dante.

Double win for the Chinese Chi in OK-Junior.

OK-Junior is headed by the Chinese driver Zhenrui Chi (Beyond Racing Team/KR-TM Racing-Vega), who claimed two wins in the two heats run. The Japanese Shimo Zhang (Team Driver/KR-Iame) secured the pole position and kept a good momentum in the heats, as did the Lithuanian Markas Silkunas (Gamoto/Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) and the Romanian Dinu Sabin Stroescu (Gulstar Racing/KR-Iame).

  1. Zhenrui Chi; 2. Shimo Zhang; 3. Dinu Sabin Stroescu; 4. Markas Silkunas; 5. Jabuk Kamenik.

A lot of drivers to the fore in MINI.

MINI Gr.3 counts 97 entered drivers. They contested a total of 15 heats to define the finalists of the category. The victories went to the Italian Iacopo Martinese (BabyRace/Parolin-Iame-Vega), the Brazilian Augustus Toniolo (Team Driver/KR-Iame), the Romanian Bogdan Cosma-Cristofor (Gulstar/KR-Iame) and the Dutch Dean Hoogendoorn (Alonso Kart by Kidix/Alonso Kart-Iame).

  1. Iacopo Martinese; 2. Dean Hoogendoorn; 3. Augustus Toniolo; 4. Christian Costoya; 5. Bogdan Cosma-Cristofor.

Apicella leads the pack in X30 Junior.

The poleman Antonio Apicella (Team Driver/KR-Iame-Komet) confirmed his speed in the two heats of X30 Junior claiming a good hat-trick. Riccardo Ferrari (Zanchi Motorsport/Tony Kart-Iame) and Riccardo Cirelli (Autoeuropeo/Tony kart-Iame) followed him in the two heats taking P2.

  1. Antonio Apicella; 2. Riccardo Paniccià; 3. Riccardo Ferrari; 4. Riccardo Cirelli; 5. Santino Panetta.

Comanducci confirms his speed in X30 Senior.

In X30 Senior Cristian Comanducci (PRK/Tony Kart-Iame-Komet) confirmed to be the favourite taking a win and a P3 in the heats. The other two heat winners were Danny Carenini (Team Driver/KR-Iame) and Giulio Olivieri (Gold Kart/Righetti Ridolfi-Iame). Edoardo Ludovico Villa (TB Kart/TB Kart-Iame), Sebastiano Pavan (Team Driver/KR-Iame) and Manuel Scognamiglio (Gamoto/Tony Kart-Iame) were also very fast.
