Great success of entrants for the 23rd Andrea Margutti Trophy from 23rd to 25th March on the South Garda Karting of Lonato (Brescia - Italy). In the four categories of this important event the available places are all sold out, confirming once again the value of this cornerstone of international karting.
An important role is, of course, played by the new venue in Lonato, where the Trophy takes place for the first time this year. The venue is certainly appropriate and very well tested to host great international events such as this appointment organized by Parma Karting.
The 23rd Andrea Margutti Trophy in Lonato includes the four categories: 60 Mini, KF2, KF3 and KZ2 with 245 drivers coming from 33 different countries (besides Italy, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, UK, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Monaco, Norway the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Ukraine), with 30 entrants more than last year's edition. The country which can boast the highest number of entrants is Switzerland (24 drivers).
The regulation of the 60 Mini, from this year, limits the participation only to the Italian licence holders. The category has 30 entrants from 9 to 12 years of age. Among the candidates for the win, the favourite is doubtlessly Leonardo Lorandi, who recently dominated the opening race of the WSK Master Series.
In the KF2 (with 54 drivers), there is the outstanding presence of several international top drivers, ready to fight for the first positions. Among them Felice Tiene (CRG), the Dutch Max Verstappen (Intrepid), Charles Leclerc from Monaco (Intrepid) and the English Tom Joyner (LH). To them must be added, surprisingly, Antonio Giovinazzi (FA Kart), who has already started his career in car racing.
In the Junior category KF3 (with about 90 drivers) Luca Corberi (whose hometown is Lonato) is in peak physical form in this period of the season and so he is the driver to beat. Among his strongest rivals a special mention for the English Callum Ilott (Zanardi), Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart), the English George Russell (Intrepid), his teammate the French Dorian Boccolacci and the English Connor Jupp (Energy).
Also the most powerful category, the KZ2, is sold out: 70 drivers among the strongest at national and international level. Among the favourites, the winner of the last edition of the WSK Master Series, the English Jordon Lennox-Lamb (CRG) together with his teammate Mirko Torsellini and Fabian Federer, besides Luca Tilloca, running on the new Kalì-Kart, the Finnish Henri Kokko (Ninar) and many other drivers who have already done well on the track of Lonato at the beginning of the season, like Massimo Dante (CKR) and Marco Bellanca (Energy).
The programme of the 23rd Andrea Margutti Trophy begins on Thursday 22nd March with free practice which continues also on Friday 23rd March. On Saturday 24th March the Trophy enters its crucial phase with the time trials and the qualifying heats. On Sunday 25th March, in the morning, the end of the heats then the second-chance heats follow and the last part of the Trophy with the pre-finals and the finals from hr 02.00 pm.
